Under the pilot project, we are preparing the introduction of electro buses with a standardized technology OppCharge into the operation of Prague integrated transport (PIT). Their introduction amounts to an immense number of advantages, for instance, the reduction of noise level on the track, travelling comfort and a lower level of emissions pollution which directly contributes to an inevitable transition to cleaner transport.
OppCharge technology in a combination with properly chosen infrastructure and optimised timetable provides huge flexibility of electro buses and unlimited reach in effect. The big advantage of this charging technology is the fact, that charging itself (typically 3 – 6 minutes) can run directly at the stations during the onboarding of travellers into the vehicle. Economically beneficial is also the possibility to use own traction network. Since the introduction of the technology, producers have put the accent on openness, meaning that to sustain mutual compatibility even when using charging technology from various suppliers for electro buses of different brands. The only drawback is the acquisition price of an electro bus and the charging infrastructure. It is higher compared to a typical diesel bus in which case the costs count approximately one-tenth. As for the pilot introduction with the partners ROPID and DPP the line 134 Podolská vodárna – Dvorce was selected.
